Kira Simon is an associate with the firm’s political law section. Ms. Simon advises corporations, non-profits, trade associations, political committees, and individuals on election, campaign finance, lobbying, and ethics laws. She has been admitted to the bar in both California and Washington, D.C.
Prior to joining Nielsen Merksamer, Ms. Simon served as a Legal Research Assistant for the Superior Court of California, County of San Francisco’s Complex Civil Litigation Division. She started her legal career as a law clerk to Judge James A. Crowell IV in the District of Columbia Superior Court’s Criminal Division.
Ms. Simon attended the University of Pennsylvania, graduating cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies. Before entering law school, Ms. Simon worked in the research department at EMILY’s List in Washington, DC., the nation’s largest resource dedicated to supporting women in politics.
Ms. Simon graduated from William & Mary Law School, where she externed for the Honorable John A. Gibney, Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia and the Honorable Maricia Woodham at the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Ms. Simon served as the Senior Notes Editor of the William & Mary Bill of Rights Journal, which published her note on absentee ballots, and was a leader in the Election Law Society and Revive My Vote.
